The search that led to an idea.

Like many design labels, By Rebecca Goddard grew from the desire to create a product I myself had been searching for but couldn’t seem to find. I spent months looking for the perfect stone dining table, browsing through page after page of vintage and contemporary listing alike. At a certain point I realized what I had envisioned simply didn’t exist...

As I searched, the options I found always required some type of compromise. If the color and shape were perfect, the size wasn’t correct. When the size was right and the color was suitable, I didn’t like the shape. And on the rare occasion when I found a piece that checked all of my boxes, the five-figure price tag put it completely out of question.

Putting my background in furniture design to use, I abandoned my search and set off to create my own dream dining table — a table just as I imagined with zero compromises. In the process I realized I had developed a product that many other people would appreciate as well. Not just the option of a single design, but the possibility to have bespoke-made designs brought to life.

I’ve built a partnership with a network of skilled stonemasons in Turkey who carefully produce each By Rebecca Goddard design on order-basis. We work closely together to develop and artfully manufacture every product, leveraging my manufacturers’ unique capability of supplying bespoke orders on small-volumes.

Made-to-order tables and furniture from natural stone is the foundation of By Rebecca Goddard, but my vision is to grow this label slowly through limited releases. My stonemasons and I also work together to create a small collection of ready-made accessories and design objects which are crafted from leftover stone that would otherwise be discarded.

Overall my intention is simple and honest. I want to create beautiful, long-enduring, consciously made pieces, without compromise when it comes to aesthetics and quality: ageless design made from soulful materials — the type of pieces you keep forever.

With care,

Rebecca Goddard — Founder
